Mr. McSherry graduated from Syracuse University (B.S., CPA Track Accounting, summa cum laude, 2001) and University of San Diego School of Law(J.D. 2007).  He is a member of the Central New York Estate Planning Council, Onondaga County Bar Association, and New York State Bar Association (Member, Trusts and Estates Law and Elder Law Sections).  Mr. Mc Sherry was admitted to practice law in New York State in 2008. He serves as special counsel at the law firm of Costello, Cooney &Fearon, PLLC, where he practices primarily in the fields of trusts and estates law, estate planning and litigation, elder law, tax law, business law and real estate law.  Prior to joining the firm,Mr. McSherry worked for several years as an attorney at DeLaney & O’Connor,LLP in Syracuse, New York.  Mr. McSherry has been licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in New York State since 2003.  Prior to entering the legal field,he was employed as an auditor with Pricewaterhouse Coopers, LLP in New York, NY. 

Mr. McSherry authored an article titled “Retirement Accounts and Special Needs Planning,” which was published in the May 2010 issue of the New York State Bar Association Journal and featured as its cover story.  He has written onthe same subject for a continuing education course sponsored by the New York State Bar Association.  He has also spoken at the CNY Estate Planning Council on retirement accounts as they relate to trusts and disabled beneficiaries.  Mr. McSherry has authored an article titled “Revoking a Prior Power of Attorney Using the New York Statutory Short Form,” which was published in the New York State Bar Association’s Summer 2013 issue of the Trusts and Estates Law Section Newsletter and the Fall 2013 issue of The Senior Lawyer.  Mr. McSherry has also authored several updates of the Marital Deduction/Credit Shelter Planning chapter of the New York StateBar Association’s book titled “Estate Planning and Will Drafting in New York.”  Mr. McSherry has spoken at a round table discussion on Qualified Personal Residence Trusts at the New York State Bar Association’s Trusts and Estates Law Section’s 2015 Fall Meeting and authored written materials on the same subject which were distributed for continuing-legal education credit.       

Mr. McSherry currently volunteers on the Board of Directors for Girls on the Run of the Finger Lakes, Inc., a not-for-profit organization, and serves as its Secretary
